There will be many instances when fear and desire point in opposite directions. You want something, but you’re scared to go for it. In fact, if you really set out to pursue your heart’s desires, you’re pretty much guaranteed to feel a lot of fear: fear of failure, fear of commitment, fear of competition, even fear of success. This kind of fear - the fear that accompanies desire - is something you must face, not flee. Put your desires above your fears. Stop running, and face it.

- Martha Beck (via biancasugay)

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

- Frank Herbert, Dune (via colporteur) (via unicornology)

Fear is good. Like self-doubt, fear is an indicator … The more scared we are of a work or calling, the more sure we can be that we have to do it.

- Steven Pressfield, The War of Art: Winning the Inner Creative Battle

I love these. I seem to have forgotten my favorite truism since the day I deemed it my favorite, though. It makes me sad.
